In the vampire communities (discussed in the chapter of thatname), people often differentiate between a purely psychic vampire whodraws off a living aura but does not break skin, and a “sanguinarian”vampire, who drinks the blood of their donor. It’s the mostuncomfortable part of thinking about vampires; after all, the legendary stereotype was of a creature who sucked people’s blood out. Although itis controversial, I do address sanguinarian vampires in the chapter “TheBlood Is The Life”, because I believe, after many years of living andexperimenting while being a vampire, that many sanguinarian vampiresare actually psychic vampires who have figured out that fresh blood isglowing with high-density prana, and prefer the large, concentrateddose. Others, of course, indulge in this practice for other quite differentreasons, and therefore are not germane to the span of this book. Thepractice of blood-drinking may horrify and disgust some people, butsince a sizeable portion of conscious vampires actually do it, it would behypocritical of me not to address it, and its attendant safety issues.
