History - American Atomic Weapons in 1900-1975

During WW2 the first nuclear weapons were created due to fears that Nazi Germany were also developing there own nuclear weapons, these fears were unfounded and the Nazi's had not developed nuclear weapons.
The first created nuclear weapon was "Trinity".
After the first test the Americans began a series of vigorous nuclear weapons testing.
On the 16 July 1945 the Trinity bomb was tested.
Trinity had a 20 kiloton yield.
On the 6th of August 1945, the "Little Boy" was used against Hiroshima.
During the Cold War over 70,000 warheads were developed, from 0.1 kiloton bombs to 25 kiloton bombs.
While several different designs were created, not all were put into production.
Several different types of delivery systems have been developed, the original delivery system for the first bombs required specially designed planes to carry and launch, afterwards different types were created such as rocket based and missile based for long range.
