I had a dream last night. A boy was playing with some kind of prehistoric feathered bird about the size of an adult man I would say. He was flinging it from his arm as a person would release a hawk and it was flying around in a sort of gravely field surrounded by scant trees with small trunks and no leaves on the branches.
All of a sudden, his mood changed, or I guess the mood of the dream did, and the boy threw the bird off of a cliff that I had not noticed.
With both hands. The bird actually fell over it
So the boy is proud of his actions and the an adult and myself (as another person) who had just entered the scene were making some kind of gesture. There was nothing to really indicate anything bad happening
The boy goes to the side of the cliff to examine where the bird fell. I'm seeing this from behind the boy as he overlooks the cliff.
And the bird slowly flaps upwards and grabs the boy by the shoulders and pulls him over.
So me and the other adult go to look over in the same manner as the boy did. We see him lying on an extension of the cliff below about 30 feet down, moving slightly. This is directly below us almost. A bit in front, but we could not see the side of the cliff
So the adult with me jumps down (somehow surviving the drop) and goes to the boys' aid.
And the side of the cliff opens up behind him
And the birds wings come out and I see the bird almost burnt in some way expel itself from the cliff as slowly as it had taken the child.
And it grabs the adult with its wings and pulls him into the cliff, almost in slow motion but that could not have been the case.
And then I woke up terrified.
Nightmares are only scary in context with your own state at the time, which is why describing them to other people usually does not yield the same effect it did to you.
But I think the fact that the bird used the boys body as a trap to lure the other adult is terrifying.
I have a lot of nightmares. I don't like sleeping. Really.
It's to the point where my tolerance level has gone up and I have to question whether something was really a nightmare at all.
The dream looked like something filmed on a cheap dv camera. You know, with the bad white balance and everything.
