Dear hiring Manager(store owner):

It is with pleasure and honor to supply this letter of recommendation on behalf of Chris Anderson as he applies for the position of Bicycle Mechanic with Tri-Tech Multisports.
As the main mechanic and service manager at Performance Bicycle, I have worked with Chris in the shop for going on 3 years.
I believe I am the only qualified individual to support Chris' application as I have observed him several hours every work day which has allowed me to see first hand his dedication to the sport of cycling with enthusiasm and willingness to help others.

I was initially impressed with
Chris' attitude and logic thinking, for example when asked why he was putting front reflectors on the left side during builds, without wasting one second he proceeded to explain how it would be closer to oncoming traffic than the right. Although this was incorrect, he was a quick learner and careful listener as I told him it was because of computers and that most people are right handed. Being a fast learner he can't get enough, wanting more, and is always researching the newest bicycle technology, exploring new tools and methods, as well as products and bicycles that we carry.

Chris is reliable, always on time, rarely sick, and rarely requests days off. He is dedicated to his job in a repetitive and systematic way. Careful with our new carbon fiber bicycles and components, as well as with repairs of custom paint jobs and vintage components alike. Nearing a perfectionist, Chris accurately and thoroughly trues wheels, sometimes without the truing stand, and torques the more expensive and critical components to spec where noted.

To the corporation Chris shows a level of professionalism unparalleled by any other mechanic. He walks 'finals' to the customer, never rides them to
. Very organized
and orderly, requiring minimal supervision as he is sometimes the closing mechanic
, he never slacks, always has work in his hands, when others are looking through catalogs. Able to multitask during high work load
, Chris is a team player
when others are busy with repairs and finals by answering the service phone
, handling walk ins
, and is always being thoughtful of others situations and feelings.
His customer support and communication skills exceed what is expected of mechanics.

I go to Chris with any broken bolt that need extracting and threads re-tapped or chased, including the bottom bracket shell, he is our in-house machinist. When parts come in he is usually the one installing them onto the bike and often does frame warranty swaps of every component on the bicycle. When a salesperson needs a bike built, ready to go out the door, they go to Chris because they know the quality he outputs versus the other mechanics.

Many inventions
of Chris' are discussed during our time together, some I want. He has been designing a hydraulic drive-train, a continuously variable transmission with no set number of gears. His passion has shifted to producing a bicycle manufactured from a bullet-proof plastic, polycarbonate
.

Chris is a true hardworking professional, a superlative in all fields of bicycle mechanics.
If I had my choice, I would keep him in my shop. However, he has expressed a strong aspiration to join your shop and to leave Performance Bicycle. This is a request I support without reluctance.
I trust Chris to build, fix, and work on my own bicycles and thus Chris has my highest recommendation
for this position. I welcome the opportunity to visit with you in greater detail about Chris' skills, qualifications, and career goals.
