As you know, three years back, I was charged with a Class A Misdemeanor (battery). I wanted to offer some additional clarification that may be useful in your consideration.
Leading up to that point, my roommate and I had been having some pretty substantial conflicts. It started with little (though strange) things that he would do to provoke me. He would open up the window next to my bed when it was snowing. He would turn up the stereo in my room, and then immediately go to the living room. Though these were little things in the grand scheme of things, they made for a very stressful living situation.
On the day in question, while I was sleeping he again played loud music in my room and opened up the window next to my bed when it was snowing heavily. I respond irrationally and immaturely, and punched him. He immediately called the police, who were forced to charge me with a Class A misdemeanor. I pleaded guilty, and agreed to 24 hours of community service.
Since that day, I have been deeply ashamed of my actions, and I know that though my roommate may have been trying to provoke me, I have no one to blame but myself.
That was the first and last time I have ever been involved in any sort of physical confrontation.
I have learned a great deal from the incident. It showed me how one relatively minor incident can have such a long term consequence. It showed me to react to things very calmly rather than doing it in haste. But most of all, it taught me the value of patience - a quality I now pride myself on.
I hope that this additional context will help resolve your concerns on this matter. I am still extremely excited about the position with <>, and I would love to move forward. I am a dedicated, hard-working, and most of all, patient person, and I am confident that I can contribute greatly to the company.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I would be more than happy to provide additional references or information.
Thank you.
