***** Industrial Age+++? *****	(Rollplay Age???)

 == Doing well ==
BZZT! Watch, Boss - BZZT! - these new electrified seats have TRIPLED the kiddies' productivity! Ahem. I apologise, Boss, I called you here for a reason. Some well-heeled business associates of Pappy's are looking to get into the oil business. As a personal favour to them, I assured them that MY well-heeled business associate would be happy to champion their cause, and #build an Oil Well# to get them started. It'll pay dividends down the road, Boss, believe you me.

 == Oiling the gears of industry ==
Eee, Pappy's well-heeled business partners are pleased. Mark my words, Boss, your donation of an Oil Well won't go unnoticed. Now perhaps you'd care to demonstrate your commitment to industry and #increase our Oil production rate to 250 per hour#. There's money in it for us all, believe you me.

 == Taking the 'die' out of 'starvation diet' ==
When Pappy were younger, he taught me all he knew about running a cotton mill. Pappy were always very clear on one point: you feed the urchins just enough to keep 'em working, but not enough that they get grand ideas. Can't have t'kiddies starving, Boss - t'isn't good for business. #Increase our Food production to 6000# and we'll keep 'em just hungry enough.

 == Ironing the kiddies ==
Nay, Boss! Nay, I don't mean to LITERALLY iron t'kiddies. They're thin enough already, ho ho! No, the problem is that escapes are on the rise. Terrible for business, Boss. So, naturally, I mean to shackle them to their seats, but for this I'll require a great quantity of Iron. #Increase our Iron production to 6000 per hour#, Boss, and I'll start measuring the kiddies for their ankle shackles.

 == Burny bum hot ==
Pappy were always one to take advantage of new technological innovations. Well, a good friend of mine in t'coal industry has designed a coal-fuelled device for improving productivity in t'mill. Here's a prototype, Boss: see, this is where the kiddy sits, and underneath, there's a vent leading to - you see! - the FURNACE. A genius design! Trials show a productivity boost of 15%, but to go into full production we'll need more Coal. #Increase our Coal production to 6000 per hour#.

 == Can't get the staff ==
Frankly, Boss, ever since Pappy's been poorly, the mill business hasn't been quite what it used to be. Maybe it's morale. The kiddies probably miss their beatings from Pappy; them beatings were the only affection some of them got. Trouble is, some of them are escaping, and it's just awful for business. What we need, Boss, is a steady intake of fresh kiddies to replace the old. #Increase our population to 30,000# and we'll keep t'mill well stocked, believe you me.

 == Sound investments ==
That population increase has paid off, Boss: the mill is doing well again, and now it's a case of what to do with t'money. Pappy's well-heeled business partners in the banking trade have presented me with some...opportunities. There's money in it for us both, Boss: you'd be well advised to #upgrade our Bank#, believe you me.

 == An end to t'slums ==
Boss, our recent population explosion has resulted in many of our citizens living in dire conditions. Tramps, Boss! No, Pappy's well-heeled business parters don't want to look out of their office windows at tramps begging in t'street, that they don't. #Upgrade our Apartment and let our population increase happily to 40,000#, and we'll remove this eyesore from our streets, believe you me.

 == Expand the heart of your settlement ==
It's time to cast off the old shackles and take your settlement to the next level. Let your people claim the title of 'City' for their settlement - build a City Centre.

 == Refined tastes ==
Boss, we've all done very well out of your investment in an Oil Well, and Pappy's well-heeled business associates would like to invite you to a party tonight in celebration. They wish to properly welcome you, Boss, as an oil industry partner. And they have a modest proposal, too: they suggest that you #build a Refinery# to increase Oil production. Well, I told them you wouldn't dream of missing out on such an opportunity. And it IS an opportunity, Boss, believe you me.

 == Investing in people ==
Boss, its with a heavy heart that I tell you Pappy's condition has worsened, and he's decided to pass my inheritance to me straight away. Well, this is wonderful news - I mean terrible news - I mean...a great opportunity. An opportunity to invest, Boss - to invest in infrastructure, to invest in our future. That's what Pappy's well-heeled business partners say, Boss. They say #upgrade our Apartment and City Centre#, and watch the money flow in. They've never been wrong, Boss, believe you me.

 == Big city industry ==
Boss, we've all done very well out of our investments in our burgeoning city. Especially Pappy's well-heeled business partners, who are, I'm assured, particularly committed to our Iron industry. It's only fitting to reward their commitment and #upgrade our Iron Mine#. More workers need more food, so #upgrade our Farm too#. They'd see some benefit from extra Culture too, so #upgrade the Capitol#. And if you could also pick up some bread and eggs for them on the way home, that'd be grand.

 == Sourcing resources ==
Bigger and better, Boss, you mark my words, that's what we want! But it all costs, Boss, it all costs. #Increase our resources# to cope with the demands of our grand empire. With your diligence, we'll be the strongest yet, believe you me.

 == Hello, hello, this is Luddite **ADVISER_SURNAME ==
I've heard tell of using electricity to power mills. I say it's an idea that'll never take off. Pappy never powered a mill with electricity! I'm pleased to say that Pappy's well-heeled business parter Ned agrees with me, so where others are wasting their money on so-called 'power looms', I'll invest mine in bonds, just as he suggests. Yes, Mr Baring's never wrong. Mark my words, banks are where the money is: #Build a Bank# and we'll all profit from it, believe you me.

 == I fought the law, and... ==
CURSE those meddling child labour campaigners. Laws have been passed setting a maximum 12-hour day - HALF the working day of my mill! - and banning the employment of kiddies younger than nine years old in all current settlements. Well, it won't do: between you and me, Boss, profit margins aren't what they used to be. I'm competing with new power looms, and this development could put t'mill under altogether. #Start a sixth city# where these ridiculous regulations won't exist, and I'll take my business there instead.

 == Ruin brewing ==
Boss - ruin - for us BOTH! Ned Baring's bank has hit trouble, and our investments are LOST - oh, my savings! And since the child labour laws were amended to apply to our new settlement, I've no income either! Pappy's well-heeled business partners have gone into the power loom business, and I'm facing creditors left, right and centre! Oh Boss, wha - what do you mean you didn't invest in Ned? You're not ruined, Boss? Oh Boss! - what? - no! - you WON'T put me in the poorhouse! You WOULDN'T - would you?

 == Free speech (war) zones ==
Word's got out about conditions in t'mill, Boss. Not that there's owt WRONG with t'mill, but a small number of people disagree with how the kiddies are treated. They've been protesting outside t'mill with the most INFLAMMATORY placards. There's increasing pressure to introduce stricter regulation on child labour, and frankly, Boss, it's got me worried. I'd consider it a personal favour if you would #build an Army Fort#, then maybe these protesters could...make themselves useful...somewhere else.

 == **ADVISER_SURNAMEcare ==
Despite my efforts, Boss, this 'child labour' propaganda is gathering some traction with the public. We have to be seen to be doing something, Boss. #Research Field Medic Training#. We'll tell the public it's out of concern for the kiddies' health, and Pappy's well-heeled business partners will make sure the public believes it. They don't need to know that we intend to use the research for the aid of t'army.

 == Snake - snake - SNAAAKE ==
Boss, I'm having ongoing problems with child labour protesters. One in particular, a Mr J Snake of Tunbridge Wells, is a fine orator and stands to make a devastating impression on the empire's lawmakers. It'd mean a lot to me and to t'mill, Boss, if the man could be - shall we say 'disappeared'? - by a suitably stealthy Rifleman. #Upgrade our Army Fort, Gunsmith and Academy, and build 50 Riflemen#.

 == Riot control ==
RIGHT! That's IT, Boss, I've had enough, I really have. I arrived at t'mill this morning for a day of hard slog, and I was pelted with rotten eggs by a crowd of good-for-nothings who ought to be making something of their lives. We need proper riot control, Boss. #Produce Artillery# and these layabouts will think twice about pelting me again, lest they get pelted themselves - and I'll see to it that they WILL, believe you me!

 == Putting the wind up them ==
Boss, it's time to show the empire's troublemakers that we simply won't put up with their insolence. We've made quite a few of them into soldiers, now, Boss. Let's send them to war: let's show them what happens when you stand up against us. The more passionate the protester, the closer they'll be to the front! #Win 40 battles in 25 hours#, and the protesters of old will come back changed men and women, believe you me.

 == Love and marriage, love and marriage... ==
Boss, with my wealth and social standing, I'm a real prospect to members of the opposite sex. Well, there's no use in keeping it from you any longer: the wedding is planned soon, and I'm sure you'll attend? Of course you will! Now, just one small matter: my father-in-law is a very high-up official at the Customs House, and we wouldn't want to get off on the wrong foot, would we? #Upgrade the Customs House# to appease my father-in-law, and this partnership will go off without a hitch, believe you me.

 == ...go together like a horse and carriage. ==
Boss, the honeymoon is over, and now it's down to the nitty-gritty of real life. But spouses have demands, Boss, and what use is my great wealth if I can't use it to buy beautiful things to keep the interest alive? #Capture another luxury# and find me more gifts to give. It'll make for a happy and peaceful union, believe you me.

 == A labour of love ==
Boss, the mother of my prospective spouse is a cultured type; a senior lecturer in the English department at our University. It'd go some way to securing my place in my intended's heart were I to impress the mother, and with her department facing cuts of a most severe nature, you could make a significant contribution if you were to #upgrade the University#. It'll earn me a place in my prospective mother-in-law's good books, believe you me.

 == At the ends of their handies ==
Boss, we're packing protesters off into t'army left right and centre, and of course that leaves their kiddies with no-one to look after them. Well, it's my duty as a kindly old mill owner to take the kiddies in and give them employment. It's shameful how the protesters react when they hear the news, though, boss. They're ever so aggressive. Fine warriors we'd make of them if we could channel that aggression down the barrel of a gun. #Upgrade the Gunsmith# and we'll do just that, believe you me.

 == Kettling tactics ==
Boss, it seems that the more child labour protesters we pack off into t'army, the more come out of the woodwork. I fear sabotage, Boss. Pappy's well-heeled business parters have seen fit to employ a force of riot police to patrol t'mill at night, but the force is made up from impoverished mercenaries without the funds for proper armour. #Upgrade our Armoury# and we'll armour our new policeman.

 == Carting them away ==
Boss, the child labour protesters are becoming more violent, and we need suitable vehicles to remove them from the scenes of their crimes. #Upgrade the Factory#, and Pappy's well-heeled business partners will see to it that police vans are produced to take protesters directly from t'mill to t'army barracks, where they can shout and scream all they want - at t'enemy.
