There are many Rune pures today and even clans made just for Rune pures/Tanks. Why? because they always owned ever since the Wilderness was made and still is after it was removed. 99 Attack and Strength with 40-50 Defence at around 106 Combat? Madness and absolute pwnage. Hitting 40's with Whips and 60's with Godswords and high 30's with Dragon dagger at such low combat, did I mention 99 Attack to make sure you'll own that one guy?!? Rune pures can do it all while being low combat: Hybriding using all attack styles, PvM, Single Pking.

There are many different kinds of builds for Rune pures: There are 60 Attack, 70 Attack, 75 Attack, and 99 Attack Rune pures.

Pick your poison, but I'm giving you the list that you'll need to make a complete rune pure up to this date.

===========================================================================================

Pros and Cons of the Rune pure.

Pros:

Rune Pures are one of the most dangerous types of accounts in all of Runescape that will be able to max out all of their offensive skills and still have low enough combat. A maxed original rune pure's combat level is 106.975 with 45 defence and 53 prayer, or those new rune pures with Turmoil at 112.53 with 45 defence and 99 prayer.

The main point of any type of pure account is to knock-out your opponent very quickly, and that is no different for a rune pure. The only differences between a rune pure and a normal pure is that a rune pure has a decent amount of defence, rune armor, and even higher Strength bonus than a pure. With the huge Strength bonuses and Ultimate prayers, a rune pure is able to hit up to 42 with an abyssal whip, 38 with a dragon scimitar, and 37-37 with the dragon dagger special attack.

NOTE: With the new prayer, Turmoil, it is a brutal 52 with whip, 47 with dragon scimitar, 46-46 with dragon dagger!

With the enough defense and able to wear enough armors from bronze to rune, it makes it a lot easier to do skills such as rune crafting through the abyss, training the slayer skill, and just doing normal training.

There are also a lot of quests that a Rune pure can do, so many that Rune pures can have the access to the great Lunar spell book, Ancients spell book, able to do that Swan song quest for fishing monkfishes, finishing the Neitznot quests so you can train on the Yaks, "the rock crabs for Rune pures", a powerful Hand cannon from that one dwarf quest, and many more!

Cons:

Rune pures can have some cons, but remember there are luck in Runescape when it comes to trying to tank that one last monster on your task because you had no food, or when you aren't getting good Dragon dagger specials on that one player you trying to kill. Though 40-50 defence gives way more protection than those 1 Defence pures. Rune pures can still easily be hitted on often and lose their Rune armours which can add up a lot. But with skills, you can almost never die!

Not only do you have to worry about the high defence Tanks in Player vs Player, but there are some players with the powerful prayer, Piety.
Piety is a prayer that was released with the quest "King's Ransom" along with another prayer, chivalry. Chivalry requires 60 prayer, as well as 65 defense and the completion of "King's Ransom." It increases your defence by 20%, strength by 18%, and attack by 15%. The other prayer, Piety, requires 70 prayer and 70 defence, along with completion of "King's Ransom." It gives players an increase of 25% to defence, 23% to strength, and 20% to attack. Not only do these new prayers give an extra 20-25% to their already-higher defence, but they also raise the users' max hits to higher than ever before. Don't forget those players with the even newer and worse prayer, Turmoil, but those are rare at around in the 100's combat level range.

There will be copies of you, even the exact same build as you, then it would be all on skills and supplies you bought to fight with.

Piety mains/Pro range tanks are basically your enemies that will try to out-tank you and hit hard at the same time.
But then again with skills, you can win most of the battles.

With high defence also comes more access to better armor such as Barrows armor, dragon armor and boots, granite, crystal shield, and the dragon-fire shield. Barrows armors are not only incredibly strong, but when worn as complete sets, have special abilities. For example, the Dharok set has the ability to hit higher when you are on low health. If someone wearing full dharoks with one hit-point and piety, they could nearly one-hit you and easily since you would be 40-50 Defence and could have you busy eating.

There are Range tanks that has similar combat levels to you with Dragonfire shield. With the Dragonfire shield alone, it easily gives the Range tank immensly defence bonus and not suffer much range attack bonus, so they could easily hit through defence while having enough defence themselves to out-tank you.

Be aware that Rune pures aren't like 1 Defence pures where they just do 10 quests and they're done. Expect to do more than 50+ Quests to make a Rune pure trainining a lot easier.

===========================================================================================

After completing the above quests, you should have 40-41 Defence and 44-53 prayer. If you do not have one or either of those, try to find quests that will put you at those levels. I DO NOT recommend training your defence or prayer, as it could potentially ruin your perfect rune pure.

The next thing that you need is 175 quest points to finish off Recipe for Disaster. Be sure to look through a guide to RFD while getting your quest points out of the way, as you do not want to forget any of the pre-quests. KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COMPLETE LEGENDS QUEST! YOU ONLY NEED TO MAP OUT THE JUNGLE! Try to pick quests which will give you good and useful rewards, such as "Slug Menace" for Proselyte Armor and "Lunar Diplomacy" for the lunar spell-book.

"Desert Treasure" is also a required quest to complete Recipe for Disaster, and it gives you access to the Ancient Spell-book.

===========================================================================================

NOTICE! If you need the Attack exp-giving quests, Scroll a little down for the list. Reason I putted it there was because it would fit with the Rune pure training section.

===========================================================================================

Checklist on what to get for your Rune pure.

You think you're ready to start training your new rune pure? Well first answer a couple questions.

1. Have you completed Recipe for Disaster?

Barrows gloves give a +12 strength bonus, which makes a HUGE difference when training. Though these are not required for training, I HIGHLY suggest getting them before you begin training on your new Rune pure.

Quest guide link for Recipe for Disaster:http://www.zybez.net/quests/106/recipe_for_disaster/

2. Do you have a Fire Cape?

The fire cape gives a +4 strength bonus, as well as a +2 prayer bonus, and is received after defeated Tz-Tok Jad at the end of the Fight Caves. Again, this is not required, but is suggested before training. I'll give a link to a nice Fire cape guide just made for Rune pures.
Fire cape guide link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnqMNe_nMwY credits to lvl 56 n00b.

3. Do you have a Slayer helmet?

I cannot stress this enough and it disgusts me when I see players doing their slayer taskes without a Black mask/Slayer helmet and soon people ranging, but without focus sight or void, wasting their time. A Slayer helmet is pretty important and the fact that the Slayer skill gives you a variety of monsters to kill, so you don't get bored easily, and that it gives you 15% Attack/Strength boost when fighting monsters on your slayer task, it's a MUST NEED. Black mask is only around 1 million and for a complete Slayer helmet, including focus sight, hexcrest and black mask needs around 5 million. With this Black mask/Slayer helmet, you can hit 15% higher than what you can hit on a normal monster, therefore better training and more choices since Slayer maters give a huge list of monsters you can kill.

Black mask/Hexcrest/Focus sight are stats-boosting items that increases 15% attack/strength, 15% magic damage boost for Hexcrest, 15% range boost for focus sight only requiring level 10 combat. However Slayer helmet requires 300 Slayer points to be made and to get the Slayer points,
you must complete a certain amount of tasks after finishing the Smoking kills quest. Smoking kills quest requires 85 Combat and 35 slayer, so train up till you reach 85 combat and in the meanwhile, use the Black mask/Hexcrest/Focus sight, depending on what combat style you use to attack with on Slayer taskes.
Quest guide link for Smoking Kills: http://www.zybez.net/quests/148/smoking_kills/

4. Do you have a Fighter Torso?

The Fighter Torso has the same statistics as a rune platebody, but with +4 strength bonus, and -40 mage defence, rather than the -30 of a rune platebody. You can get one from Barbarian Assault after having 375 points in each role of the game. You can either organize your own BA team, or go to the world that JaGeX designated for it. The Fighter Helmet can also be earned the same way, and has the same stats as a warrior helmet, only +4 more slash attack. Check on Runescape forums for clan chats made for getting a experienced BA team and is highly recommended for your Fighter torso.

5. Do you have Vengeance spell?

What is vengeance? Vengeance is a 94 Magic required spell that allows you to rebound 75% of damage that you receive every 30 seconds per 1 spell cast back onto your opponent. Vengeance is one of the most common reasons for 1 Defence pure turning into Rune pures. Vengeance is one of the core of the Rune pures since in PvP when fighting other players, the Rune pures can cast Vengeance spell to rebound the damage, combined with 40-50 Defence which has a chance to be hitted hard when you want it to, so you can rebound the damage back, and the already powerful stats you use in combat makes Rune pures dangerous enough. However you need a quest, Lunar diplomacy, to unlock this and 94 Magic, but is highly recommended before stepping into the wilderness.
Quest guide link for Lunar diplomacy: http://www.zybez.net/quests/114/lunar_diplomacy/

6. Do you want to get Turmoil?

One of the hardest thing to achieve because of the requirement of insane money (about 190M to get Turmoil). Turmoil is a 95-level prayer that allows you to hit much higher then the Ultimate Strength prayer and even better than Piety prayer. The lowest combat you can get turmoil and be a rune pure at the same time is 40 DEFENCE! Excellent.

There is a level 92 prayer, Soul split, gives you lifepoints everytime you hit and acts like Smite prayer which helps a LOT in PvM, letting you camp longer, own noob in PvP as always, but getting lifepoints every time you hit.

I'll give you readers a demonstration on how Turmoil and Soul split owns.

Here's link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BrGQ6uEm6A&feature=player_embedded

Remember you need about 180m+ depending on Dragon bones prices of today. I have a section on how to make money
on your rune pure, so you can try to get this goal.

===========================================================================================

Money-Making Tactics for Rune pures!

With 40-50 defence, many tactics of money-making open up to you which aren't easily available to one defence players. Some of these include Dragon slaying, training your Slayer skill, and Runecrafting through the abyss and Player-killing. Some will be faster than one other methodsand that you can be bored after once in a while with one method, so I'll be giving you a list of Money-making methods you can do to build up your bank.

Runecrafting: I consider this one of the most boring skills to train, mainly because it is so repetitive with very little experience. To effectively make money with rune crafting, you should first go into the abyss and collect all four pouches until you are 44 Runecrafting. When you are 44 Runecrafting, I highly suggest you get 57 Summoning for Spirit Graahk because it can teleport you close to the Nature altar with unlimited charges unlike the amulet of glories which need recharging ever 4 runs. With the Spirit Graahk to teleport you to Nature Altar and the dueling ring to teleport you back to the castle wars which has a bank very closeby. Nature runes are very good for money and can also be used to high-alch items into gold and for magic experience. At 91 runecrafting, you will start making 2 nature runes for every single pure essence you have. This is where the money really starts coming in.

Slayer: Some people do not think that slayer is a good money making skill, but they are completely wrong. Not only is slayer one of the best ways to train your account's combat stats because of the Slayer items boosting your combat stats, but it also provides you with access to monsters which drop rare items such as clue scrolls, white and black mystic parts, black masks, dragon boots, hexcrests, focus sights, amulet of ranging, abyssal whips, dark bows, and many more! Along with all of the runes and herb seeds that the monsters drop, slayer is easily one of the most profitable skills in the game.

Dragon Slaying: Just like slayer, dragon slaying is a combat oriented money-maker. Selling the hides and bones from one dragon will easily get you four thousand gold or more, depending on which type of dragon you are slaying. The dragons also drop things like half keys and clue scrolls, which can really add up. If you decide to slay black dragons, you even have a chance at getting a draconic visage!

Hunter: This skill is very popular and fast to train. Under level 63, you don't really make much money, but once you can catch Carnivorous (Red) Chinchompa's, the money starts piling in! Either you can sell the chinchompa's that you catch, or you can use them for some fast range and hit-points experience!

Eping/76king: This doesn't need any skills at all, but just a few friends and patience. You'll be risking 76k+ in the PVP/BH world in a hot spot getting 25% ep every half hour. Maximum is 100%. You need to kill someone that is risking 76k, no more or less, and you get a chance of getting good loot depending on your EP and/or DP (I'll explain that later). Keep 76king until 0% EP and repeat getting back up EP.

There are many guides on getting EP up safety since there are many pkers that are gonna want to get free kill on you.
Right now I'll explain Death potential, DP for short. Death Potential is like EP, but you have to die with some gear costing from 76k to 1m or beyond to gain Death potential. You cannot see where you are in DP, so you'll have to think how many times or how much roughly your gear cost. Death Potential can get you good loot and combined with EP, you'll have a greater chance of getting good loot.

Bandos/Zamorak GWD hunting:You do need high range and strength for this unless you are in some kind of mass. Without it, you'll barely hit and be busy eatting often, canceling your trip early. I believe 90+ strength/range will do fine with welfare gear since you only 40-50 defence. Get a team and make sure you know what's going on. I'll be linking a guide to this soon.

The Throne of Miscellania: A lot of people have no idea that RuneScape offers you the ability to get and manage your very own kingdom. Even those that do know often have no idea it can generate this much income. Miscellania can give you a potential 700k to over 1m profit a week with almost no work required at all. This guide will mainly help those that are low on cash and don't wanna put much effort into making cash.

Here's Lord_Pulzar's guide to Miscellania: http://s1.zetaboards.com/hf_rs/topic/1875899/1/

1. Train on Cows from 1 Attack/Strength to at least 20 Attack/Strength. Collect the cow hides while you at it.

3. Go train on Minotaurs at the Stronghold of Security (1st floor) for 40 Attack/40 Strength. Bring food in case.

4. Once you got 40 Attack/40 Strength, you should be questing your Attack levels if you want to be a 60/70/75 Attack Rune pure Otherwises Go train on Flesh crawlers till you 60 Attack/60 Strength or if you are member, you can train at Rock crabs at Waterbirth Isles. Ask a friend or a player who is on Lunar spell book to group-teleport you to Waterbirth Isles. Go east and train on the 3 Rock crabs till 60 Attack/Strength. You must bring food with you if you wanna be staying at Waterbirth Isles.

5. Once you achieved 60 Attack/60 Strength or around that and done a couple defence quests for armour protection, you are set to train on real monsters!

TIPS ON MAXING YOUR RUNE PURE'S 60 ATTACK/STRENGTH

Before we get started on training 60 Attack/Strength or around that to maxed, I suggest you read these tips, so you can get the idea on how to train efficiently and without getting bored.

1. Use different places for training. An example would be for one day to use earth warriors, then the next day train Slayer, this stopped me from getting really bored.

2. Use Super strength and Attack potions. Think about it, 100 super strengths and attack's can last a long time. They are fairly expensive to get, but over a period of training saves you allot of time and Monster drops will re-pay your potions back easily!

3. If Attack/Strength potion are too costly for you and you have COMPLETED Heroe's quest, you should get Dragon battleaxe! Its special which gives pretty much the same Strength boost as a super Strength pot and if you combine that with a super attack you'll compromise the loss and even gain some Attack lvl boosts.

4. If you don't have Heroe's quest completed or You wanna have a special bar fulfilled for your secondary weapon, Use a Combat potion! A potion that works just like a normal Attack and Strength potion, but you get a lesser boost in Attack/Strength though combat potions cost basicly nothing and they only require 1 inventory space.
one combat potion is about 170 coins or so where super attack + Strength might be 6k total.

5. When you use AFK spots have something else to do. For example, Watch youtube or chat to your friends in-game on clan chat or on IRC while checking the Runescape screen every several minuites.

6. When training at monsters such as rock crabs, druids, earth warriors, pick the herbs/charms up. You can make a lot of money doing this.

7. Try bring Ring of life with you if you aren't that experienced and don't wanna lose your gear. Ring of life could save you.
