ok, What I mean by Objective: I mean outside of man. Man must step away from his subjective "self" image of morality and instead attempt to understand morality from a "third person" perspective.
Joseph, you believe that morality appears as a natural process of enculturation beginning with childhood and lasting until death. You therfore believe that morality is a reflection of common will or societal will. This is what we call: communism.
I, along with other epistemologists, attempt to discover truth outside of our minds and individual biases. ironically, through doing this, we discover that true morality exists on when each individual is a soverign, sober, and free individual (objectivism). The idea of a collective morality is, in my opinion, a sin, as it detracts from the ability of an individual to achieve his, or her, absolute potential and absolute liberty.
For instance. You may be convinced that the square root of a negative number exists. and in the world of complex mathematics, it does. However in regard to "real" or computational mathematics, it is not possible for the sqrt(-x) to exist.
To bring this back to the study of humanities: It is my belief that when each free, sober, and soverign individual pursues his or her own rational self interest (economically, politically, and philosophically) then true peace is achieved. I believe that Government is a coercive force and that is the only role government can have. Government does not produce. government aquires resources through force (fines, penalties, warfare) and uses these resources to further its own interests.
The role of government is to deny liberty to others due to its inherant coercive nature. The founding fathers understood this, which is why they placed limits on the federal government especialyl with regard to use of force and taxation-which is another form of coersion.
