It is important however at this stage to determine whether or not it is beneficial to develop a custom server architecture based upon existing designs or use an off the shelf solution. In order to give the project well rounded depth, it is believed that the custom implementation would be far more flexible. Not only would it increase the knowledge base about the general construction of the architecture from a very low level, but if any problems occur they will not be abstracted by an uncommon framework, another plus of building custom software is there is no need to invest in a commercial package.
Arguably it could be discussed that developing a custom solution within a limited period of time will not produce the necessary performance levels that already exist within current frameworks. Conversely, by basing the architecture off existing frameworks and keeping code simple, it would be hoped that the project is able to prove itself in terms of performance due to its simplicity and focused nature of the projects specific requirements.
