Students wanting to learn more about the graduate programs the University of North Florida offers had a chance to on Tuesday at the UNF Graduate Program Expo.
Representatives from most of UNF’s 35 graduate programs attended the expo. The event was designed to give students a chance to learn about the programs available at the university. The expo was held on Tuesday at the Student Union Ballroom, from 11 p.m. to 2 p.m. Lilith Richardson, assistant director of the Graduate School at UNF, was one of the event’s main coordinators.
“It gives UNF students access to the grad programs and their directors,” said Richardson.
Richardson, who has been with the Graduate School since 2007, is herself a UNF alumnus. She said that several of the programs offered, including the Masters of Business Administration program and the group of master’s degree programs offered by the College of Education & Human Services are both notable and in high demand locally.
Benjamin Young, a student worker, was also present to help other students navigate through the expo.
“In this day and age, you almost need a graduate degree,” said Young.
Young himself is working toward a Master’s degree in Public Administration at UNF. He said that his experience with the program has been an enjoyable yet demanding one and he feels that obtaining a graduate degree will improve his job prospects.
Almost all of the programs offered by the Graduate School were represented at the expo. Jason Mauro, graduate coordinator or the university’s English program, was one of the faculty members present.
