These are almost certainly bugs in the program, and not some
misconfiguration on my part.

The problems I have detected are threefold:

Firstly, sounds in loop stutter at the end of each loop.
This is breaks immersion and makes the game feel unpolished.
e.g. Waterfalls and mechanical sounds as heard in level two.

The second problem is that most sound effects have wrong positional
audio information.
At the beginning of a level, sounds like swords swinging, arrows
hitting, enemies growling, etc. all sound like they come from the far left.
This keeps going until reaching what I assume is the middle of the
level, where sounds start coming from the far right.
In the exact middle of a level, there is an point where sound comes from
the right directions, as if this is the point where the listener is.
My uneducated guess is that most sound objects are initialized with the
wrong listener object/reference frame or are simply left uninitialized
and fall back to the origin of the default reference frame - the center
of the level.
Sound intensity is also miscalculated, e.g. an arrow hitting far away
from the character sounds the same as one hitting next to it.

Lastly, more a limitation than a bug, I noticed that if I right click
(with the wizard) on a movable object repeatedly and then hold, there is
a chance that the sound effect associated will not be continue playing.
I guess this is the result of a hard limit for concurrent sounds that
stops it from starting again.

Software:
Debian GNU/Linux 6.0 "squeeze", i686, default GNOME install
nVidia drivers version 260.19.44 (latest)
ALSA backend and software mixer

Hardware:
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+
GeForce 8600 GT
nVidia MCP51 High Definition Audio
Stereo headphones

Best regards,
João Ricardo Matos

p.s.: Joonas from FrozenByte sent me here when I whined to him that
Trine was not working.
p.p.s.: it was not working because some package I updated yesterday
overwrote a file the nVidia driver installer had replaced. Running the
installer again fixed it.
