ZyXel 660R

The ZyXel 660R will be the single device offered to ALL business and residential EMBARQ HSI customers. All of the screens and options will remain the same aside from the addition of a Firewall. The following document describes the functionality of the Firewall.

1. The Main Menu will display one change, the addition of the Firewall link under Advanced Options

2. On the Firewall Functions you will have the following options:

A: Default Policy

B: Rule Summary

C: Anti Probing

D: Threshold

3. The Default Policy

page allows you to enable the firewall, log the activity and also controls packet flow through the router

The Default Action drop downs have 3 settings

Permit, Deny, Reject

Permit The firewall allows the passing of packets.

Deny The firewall denies passage of the packets.

Reject The firewall drops the packets.

**Altering these settings may affect the customer’s ability to browse.

4. The Rule Summary page will allow you to create firewall rules, determine the packet direction (see step 5) as well as view the available storage space for the current Firewall Rules

5. The packet direction will allow you to determine the direction the rule that is created will flow.

For example LAN to WAN flow direction will allow you to set up a rule that only affects packets that are leaving the router. Rule Summary

6. The Edit Rule Screen will allow you to setup specific rules based on the following:

· Source Address
· Destination Address
· Service
· Schedule

7. When setting up the Source and Destination address, you will have the option to select a Single IP Address, entire IP range, Subnet Range or Any IP Addresses. Once the IP(s) are selected, the Service needs to be selected.

8. The Service will allow you to control the services and ports that are being blocked / allowed.

At the bottom of the Firewall-Edit Rule screen is scheduling. This is for setting schedules on the rule you create. This can be used to help control the internet access for all users based on days and times.

9. The Firewall Threshold screen will allow you to control the Denial of Service Thresholds as well as the actions that are to be taken when the threshold has been reached. Leaving this screen to defaults is recommended.
