I consider myself a tech savvy person, and spend a lot of my spare time studying Computer Science related subjects. I have always found computers fascinating, and learning exactly how they work has been a hobby of mine ever since I got my first computer. I greatly enjoy programming, and I can keep myself busy for hours given a problem and a programming language to solve it. I would certainly consider programming a hobby and a passion of mine, as would most people who know me well.
I am currently in my second year of college, studying computing. I find the course very interesting, but it is an ambition of mine to earn a degree in Computer Science, studying Computer Science would be both fulfilling and fun for me.
I have obtained various professional qualifications relating to the role of an IT Technician and Network Technician, which I have received from reputable bodies such as CompTIA, Microsoft and Cisco. However, my interest in computers has always gone deeper than just building and/or fixing computers, I love to learn what makes them tick. Essentially, Im never satisfied with pure abstraction, I constantly find myself in wonderment at the complexity of computers, and the apparent genius of their programmers and engineers.
My interests relating to computer programming are wide; I enjoy writing software for all sorts of purposes, sometimes in varied languages. Most of all though, I find myself writing software simply to improve my understanding of a subject, or even to challenge myself to see if I can do it. I believe that given enough time and enough knowledge, anyone can write software that can solve just about any given problem. I am a strong believer in the idea that if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything. This is my philosophy with computers, programming and life in general.
Personally, I get a lot of satisfaction from helping others. I am a volunteer first aider for St Johns Ambulance which I have been dedicated to for some time. I always put my studies first, but being a first aider for St Johns gives me the opportunity to work with others. Doing this has helped me develop my personal communication skills and ability to work as part of a team, not to mention helping me socialise with people.
