Jody,
It is my pleasure to announce that you have been awarded the position of CO USS Challenger.
Your interview showed great promise, and you seem quite capable of the job. I Discussed this with both Jack, as Academy Vice Commandant, as well as Sarah, in her capacity of outgoing CO. Both said that they supported my decision, and believed that you would do a great job.
Only one point of mention here, as you take command of the Challenger. It seems apparent that Sy will be stepping down as XO, thus leaving the spot open. Jack and I agree, that without previous Academy experience, it would serve your best interest, as well as the good of the ship and her cadets, that you choose an XO with Academy experience.
After discussion between the two of us, we feel that Chris Jones would be highly recommended. He is already in place on the Challenger, knows the crew, and has good Academy experience. We both hope that you consider our recommendation.
In promoting Chris however, you would then need to hire a new CNS. That choice is, of course, fully up to you. We just ask that we are made aware of your candidate before he/she is actually installed.
Congratulations, Jody, and welcome to the Academy command staff!
Brian Olinski
Academy Commandant
P.S. Please respond to this mail to let us know of your acceptance, so we can have this edictified. Thanks.
