I have installed VLC / Xine players (+ codecs) to take care of DVDs / MPEG & AVI files... the problem is when i play .avi file with Xine, CPU usage jumps from 10% or around there to 90 - 100 % ; when i go to full screen, the movie lags .... on the other hand when i play it with VLC, cpu jumps to 30 - 50% which seems to be reasonable , and when i do full screen, it does play smoothly, but the problem is, the video quality is not really smooth... it is pixelized , so you can see the pixels , this doesn't happen when the screen is in normal size , it happens only when it is full screen... so in summery, Xine has a very sharp picture but lags for the same file which when played by VLC is ok in terms of lagging but then again, it is pixelized... any idea how to get around this problem and at least get one of the players (VLC / Xine) to work?
