I always heard the advices to get filters only from either Hoya or B+W.
I have a Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS kit lens and I am interested to buy a CPL filter to have a try. I found that some off-brand filters cost only ~$5, Canon ~$15, and Hoy $25 in ebay. (All without anti-reflection coatings.) Can only tell me why I should spend $20 more to get one from Hoya (or B+W)? Is it because that they are built from better materials or because they have better quality control? Note that none have antireflection coatings, so flare should be a problem to all of them (including Hoya). Thanks!!
