[12:37] <coolbee> does anyone
[12:37] <coolbee> wanna hear
[12:37] <coolbee> A Story
[12:38] <coolbee> so it's snowing and the roads are bad, but i gotta drive to work cuz i need to fill our machine w/ helium
[[12:38] <coolbee> see, the machine has to be super cooled w/ liquid helium, but it leaks off (15% of it leaks off every day)
[12:38] <coolbee> so i got to work, roads weren't too bad!
[12:39] <coolbee> anyway i go into the lab
[12:39] <coolbee> and WELL there are these big metal drums that hold the helium, and we then transfer it into the machine right?
[12:40] <coolbee> well it's easier said than done, you need to put on these little metal caps (they stack onto each other) so the tube fits super snug, otherwise helium gas would leak out the top
[12:40] <coolbee> i had filled the machine last friday...and i put those little metal caps onto the desk by the computer
[12:40] <coolbee> but this morning
[12:41] <coolbee> THEY WERENT THERE
[12:41] <coolbee> so i was like w/e i'll just search people's offices when bryce (he was gonna come help me fill) comes in
[12:41] <coolbee> bryce gets there at 9:30 and we searched e v e r y w h e r e and couldnt find the dumb metal fittings!!!
[12:42] <coolbee> so i started freaking out a little...but my coworker dan (who normally fills it) and peter told me where to find extra fittings
[12:42] <coolbee> and i found some that were ok...but they werent a ~perfect~ fit
[12:42] <coolbee> i figured oh this should be ok :o)
[12:42] <coolbee> wrong!!!!!!
[12:44] <coolbee> K SO everything is set to fill the machine...we get the tube inside the metal drum and sure enough the fittings are too loose so they just pop open and helium gas leaks out
[12:44] <coolbee> so i'm in PANIC MODE
[12:44] <coolbee> i shove the other end of the tube into the machine and tell bryce to hold the fittings closed (using thick gloves) and run to get some rags
[12:45] <coolbee> i wet some of the rags and we wrapped them over the fittings, that helped a lot! poor bryce had to sit there with his hands over the rags in the gloves
[12:45] <coolbee> i was worried that too much leaked out and we wouldnt be able to fill the machine to 100% full
[12:45] <coolbee> BUT GUESS WHAT
[12:45] <coolbee> WE DID
[12:45] <coolbee> CAUSE WE RULE
[12:46] <coolbee> everything went fine after that! so it was all good.......
[12:46] <coolbee> oh then i drove to the dmv, there was no line (!!), i only had to pay $350 and i will be getting the vanity plate i've always wanted :o)
