#iPhone OS 3.0 OpenSSH SFTP-Fix/Port Change Instructions
#made by Martin/WHiTY - for questions and so on mail to codelab23(at)googlemail(dot)com
#!!!! You can apply both "patches" independently - the first doesnt need the second and vice versa !!!!
#iPhone OS 3.0 OpenSSH SFTP-Fix
#reenables OpenSSH package to use SFTP Server (after it SFTP and SCP are available)
#if someone wants to know more about anything, ask me at codelab23(at)googlemail(dot)com
- WiFi should be up and running and you should know your IP address (Settings->WiFi->press arrow on ur active WiFi)
- login via ssh (putty(Win)/Terminal(Mac) not winscp!) (install OpenSSH Package in Cydia if needed) using root/alpine
- type in ssh terminal (without quotes) "find / | grep sftp-server" (take some sec)
this will give you the Location of your sftp-server binary (mine was in /private/var/stash/libexec.S9Osp5/sftp-server)
- type (w./o. quotes) "nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config" (install "nano" in cydia if needed or use vi/vim, whatever, instead)
search for "Subsystem sftp /usr..." and replace the old directory with new one (above)
- Save and Exit
- Reboot iPhone - FINISH - now you can SFTP as normal as before - or SCP, whatever u like more ;)
- you may need to install several console tools - used by me -> find, nano, grep, passwd (echo is builtin already)
#iPhone OS 3.0 OpenSSH Port Change Instructions
#if someone wants to know more about anything, ask me at codelab23(at)googlemail(dot)com
- WiFi should be up and running and you should know your IP address (Settings->WiFi->press arrow on ur active WiFi)
- login via ssh (putty(Win)/Terminal(Mac) not winscp!) (install OpenSSH Package in Cydia if needed) using root/alpine
- type in ssh terminal (without DOUBLE quotes - single quotes needed in echo cmd!!!)
"echo 'securessh 54321/tcp #New OpenSSH sshd port' >> /etc/services" (ports can go up to 65535)
- type (w./o. quotes) "nano /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.openssh.sshd.plist"
there should be 2 "<string>ssh</string>" (one under Sockets/Listeners/Bonjour and second under SockServiceName)
replace(!) both "<string>ssh</string>" with "<string>securessh</string>"
- save and exit
- reboot iPhone - FINISH - now you can ssh to your iPhone over a more "secure" port
99% of all Script Kiddies try to access SSH on Port 22 (standard) - i tried that out on my public root server!
TO BE MORE SECURE!!!!!-->as root in ssh type "passwd" and change root password, and after that "passwd mobile" and change
mobiles password too - standard password for both is well known (alpine/dottie)
- AFTER changing standard port and passwords your SSH on your iPhone is well secured
- but you can even secure it more - ask me at codelab23(at)googlemail(dot)com
- you may need to install several console tools - used by me -> find, nano, grep, passwd (echo is builtin already)
# HAVE PHUN!
