maddox

also known as sa-maddox, he has berated SA as being all about the money and that if the forums were shut down, Lowtax could stop whining about needing money.
He replyed in this infamous thread: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1094575&pagenumber=1
where it came down to Lowtax not caring about the internet and maddox having a huge e-penis. Maddox had his supporters but at the end of the day, Lowtax came out the winner.
Maddox thinks himself the big internet celebrity and does have a slighty humorous website : http://maddox.xmission.com/ but sometimes acts like the Jim Rome of the internet.
Lately maddox just posted this thread: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1117059&perpage=40&pagenumber=1 which lead to his banning by Lowtax. A good read to see the battle between Maddox's men and Lowtax's goons.
Maddox. he's such a card!

Maddox also created an SA parody on his site: maddox.xmission.com/sa. When he posted it to a forum devoted to idiots worshiping Maddox, they immediately began insulting its shittiness, apparently assuming that it was made by Something Awful and not by their hero. Even though it was, as you can easily see, hosted on maddox.xmission.com, and provided to them by Maddox himself.
A lot of people here hate Maddox and don't find him funny (part of what makes threads about him fucking trainwrecks), but I think that those of us who do find him at least usually funny still in general agree that he takes things like the Internet far too seriously, has a downright illogical hatred for profiting from the Internet (which was his main point against Lowtax, that he charged for his part of the Internet instead of giving it away in an incredibly snooty manner like Maddox does), and looked like a fool in his short-lived time on Something Awful.

Objectively, Maddox hosts and writes for his own satirical website. His often taboo topics combined with his often violently critical writing style have offended many people around the globe. His website has been put on the lists of several web filtering companies, and word has it that his site (and possibly himself) has been banned from the United Arab Emerates.
On the other hand, his tell-it-like-it-is attitude coupled with his inability to give a damn what people think about him has rewarded him with a huge following of internet users from around the globe.

Maddox's own website has largely fallen into disuse; whereas it used to be updated once a week or so, it's now been two months since the last update.
His contribution to the Internet is dubious. While his site is generally humorous, in my opinion as well as in many others, its success has created a huge cult of imbeciles who believe that their ticket to popularity is to be furious about everything the way Maddox is. Not cool.
His chief constituency is the Counter-Strike crowd and pre-teens who laugh at every F-word. He himself regularly mocks the stupidity of his fans, for the record.

Madoox seems to contradict himself when he rips into SA's donation schemes and merchendise. He himself has T-shirts and stickers available for purchase and once previously placed a paypal donation button on his site claiming that "people asked to donate". His updates are getting less and less, this appears to be upsetting his demograph of preteens and angry mothers. Shame as he can be brutally funny at times.

In a twist of bitter, bitter irony, maddox is now making a book based on his webarticles.
How's that for full circle?

Maddox is only funny in one of three ways.
1. When he tells things like they are (his Garfield article)
2. When he simply goes off on a wild tangent during one of his rants (his Ikaruga article)
3. When he writes something that is evil but entertaining (his Chris Reeves article)
Lately he's been going downhill due to his ego going out of control.

Maddox is a funny guy. He has a website of fair quality, and while it has gone downhill recently, it's still fun to check out the archives on occasion.
When confronted with the argument that he is not THAT funny, he tends to respond with "If I'm not funny, why does my site have so many hits?" It's an obviously flawed statement - think of the popularity of Crazy Frog - but it has an element of truth to it. He gets bashed a lot by people who can't form their own opinions on him, instead taking their direction from other people's opinions.
That said, he really isn't immensely funny any more (check out his latest piece on how he doesn't like an MTV show. Never heard that one before).

Regardless of what you may have heard, Maddox is not funny in any way. His insults often combine (random swear word) with (random object), so therefore you'll get something like shitsnake. Also, I have read some of Maddox's stuff and haven't laughed once. He just isn't funny, trust me.

Maddox's prose has definetly decreased in quality. However, his great Photoshop and MSpaint skills make up for that.
