Dogfolk

Dogfolk have a hazy origin, much like Catfolk. In fact, there's much about Dogfolk that immediately draws comparison to their feline counterparts, such as the name, and the fact that one finds Dogfolk in as many colorful varieties as one finds Catfolk. Tribes of wolf-like, pit bull-like, chihuahua-like, and many other varieties of Dogfolk litter the lands, as though a lazy Creator, strapped for ideas for new sentient races, saw the many breeds of dogs and simply made them into humanoids. Much the same observation could, yet again, be made of Catfolk as well.

A dogfolk character usually displays tremendous loyalty to his friends (and those who ally with a dogfolk rarely avoid becoming friends). When facing an enemy alone, a dogfolk relies mostly on his canine instincts, striking at enemies viciously and swiftly. However, when facing off with several allies around, most Dogfolk prefer to utilize clever pack tactics.

Dogfolk have a pack culture, and instinctively rate their friends and family and other close acquaintances to determine a heierarchy. Usually, the strongest or otherwise most powerful individual is held as Alpha Male, and the dogfolk tends to treat others in the heierarchy accordingly: A dogfolk is submissive to the alpha male in a relationship, and dominant to those "beneath" him (though those "below" them are rarely treated poorly; as already stated, dogfolk tend to be very loyal and kind to their friends).

Dogfolk have their own language, Canine, made up largely of fairly guttural growlings and barks, whines and howls punctuating occasionally.

Dogfolk Names:

Dogfolk names consist of three components. Their given name tends to have a preference towards R and hard G sounds, as well as W's. Male names tend to be shorter than female names. The second component is their deedname, which is granted when they reach maturity and may change over time. It's basically a nickname. The third component is the clan name, which is comprised of a verb or adjective and a noun (often a place, or an animal).
Common Given Male Names: Rowm, Grun, Krawl, Worug
Common Given Female Names: Growwa, Ralkra, Wraan
Common Deed names: Redclaw, Greyback, Courage, Kills-In-Silence, Faithful (a common nickname is based of the Draconic word for Faithful: "Fido")
Common Clan Names: Jade-Forest, River-Running-Hound, Black-Wolf

Dogfolk have a similar build to orcs, running about 6' on average and often somewhat bulky (various breeds will, of course, have different builds). They age faster than humans, too, reaching adulthood at 15, middle age at 30, old age at 45, venerable at 55, and have a max age of 55+2d10 years.
