To whom it may concern,

I find myself drawn to SRI by the variety of interesting foci entertained: power generation, environmental engineering, systems engineering and biomimetic robotics particularly excite me. I have just completed a physics and math program at UC Santa Cruz and recently worked supporting construction management on the campus. I'm anxious to apply my experience in promising emerging technology, and would be delighted to devote my skills to any position available.

As a physics major, I was required to take classes involving extensive empirical work. I've used various measuring and testing equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and data acquisition tools. I've garnered experience performing data analysis by hand and with support software (standard and custom-written). I also opted to take classes in analog electronics, programming, and control, supplemented with extensive personal tinkering. As a result of these efforts, I have a particularly strong background in control and automation fundamentals.

At my most recent job in the Physical Planning and Construction department at UC Santa Cruz -- the department responsible for building and upgrading the campus facilities -- I was responsible for assisting engineers, project managers and environmental planners with tasks including: energy auditing, AutoCAD drafting, project document verification and document archiving. Accordingly, I have extensive exposure to procedures and documentation pertaining to all stages of project construction.

I'm keen to exercise my technical and analytical skills oh the kind of cutting-edge research done at SRI. Enclosed is my resume with additional details about my qualifications. I look forward to your reply.

Thank you for your consideration,
Ahmed Ivan Mahmoud
