Hachoir is a library written in Python which allows to represent the content of file into a tree of fields. The parser is lazy (just create needed informations) and is able to fix some parser/file errors. Many parser are included: PNG picture, AVI video, MP3 audio, etc. Different frontends are included: hachoir-metadata extract meta-datas from files, hachoir-urwid is an interactive file explorer, hachoir-grep can find a string pattern in a file.
