Jen,

I CC'ed in Sarah and Jack at Jack's request, I discussed the situation with him before I responded to you, and I did it as a courtesy to them.

I do not understand your second point, you say that you informed the DHs as a "CORTESY" but, what would that be a courtesy? They need to know, they are the Mentors. My point of contention is, why I was not informed. Maybe you can clarify that for me.

As for me informing the DHs what their responsibilities is on my ship, in the Academy is, leave that to me. It is well in hand, and already taken care of. All the DHs on my ship know full well, that they are DHs by default in the Academy setting, what is expected of them and how to handle the situation.

Your further suggestion addressing my position of being "so concerned about being informed" that I have all my DHs CC me on their mails is also already in place, that's the only way I found out about one of my crew needing a mentor and how the DH handled it.

My concern for the best learning environment for the cadets on the ship stems form both being their CO, as well as the Academy Commandant. This concern further extends to the DHs on my ship, as they are still in the learning stages too. The common sense protocol here would be to include the CO, whether you see that as a courtesy or otherwise, it's the right thing to do.
