Method: Native install from 10.4.3 on bootable external USB HDD
Kernel: Mac OS X 10.4.4 8G1165 (Base Patches v1.0) - dual boot with Win XP Pro (chain0 method)
Hardware: Intel Pentium 4 3 GHz Prescott (Socket 478), 2 GB Samsung PC3200 RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro PCI 128 MB, Ethernet Intel Pro/100 VE, ADI SoundMAX AC97 on board, Soundblaster Audigy 2 PCI, Plextor PX-740A DVD+-RW DL (sec. IDE master), Plextor (sec. IDE slave), 250 GB SATA HDD for Windows (SATA-1), 80 GB IDE HDD for OSx86 (prim. IDE master)
Comments: Followed installation instructions by 'M', but I had to boot from external USB HDD, because the prepared install volume was denied by 10.4.4 Installer. HT has to be deactivated for the CPU in BIOS. First boot without Ethernet and sound: I had to use AppleAC97Audio.kext and IONetworkingFamily.kext from the 10.4.3 system. The 10.4.4 system isn't faster than 10.4.3. The 10.4.4 system wasn't able to mount DMG images: I had to repair permissions from 10.4.3 over 10.4.4 and, after this, to repair permissions again from 10.4.4. QE & CI OK with some occasional artifacts at max 1280x1024x32@60 Hz, DVD burner OK (OSx86 doesn't mount both ATAPI drives in my setting, just the master), LAN OK, Audigy doesn't work but the FireWire port is OK.
