The accompanying resume is in response to the BCIT Computer Summer Camp job notice handed out on May 26th in the DataComm/TechPro lab. I am very interested in applying for the position of instructor for the Computer Summer Camp program. As a soon to be graduate of CST (Technical Programming option), I believe the skills and practical experience I’ve acquired regarding software development and design, as well as my volunteering experience, make me an excellent candidate for the position advertised.

As you can already see from my resume, I have extensive experience with development. My experience with software development and design varies from low level C programming, to using RAD tools to rapidly prototype a solution, to maintaining and designing relational databases. Aside from the obvious, the technical skills I have acquired during my time at BCIT range from being able to write low level programs that directly interfaces with the computer hardware, to high level programming like web applications, to general IT and programming concepts. Some of these concepts include object oriented programming, business communication, algorithm analysis, relational database design, testing methodologies, data communication, web programming, graphical programming concepts, mobile programming, and graphical user interface design. As you’ll also see on my resume, I am well versed in many languages and libraries, including older ones such as MFC, all the way to newer ones such as Java and C# with the .NET framework.

Aside from just development, I also have experience working with children of all ages. As a long-time volunteer at the Thompson Community Center, I’ve helped with many small and large events which have included the kids only swap meet, the Christmas crafts fair, as well as the annual Nibbles and Bites festival.

I am a person who enjoys working in a team-based environment. My belief is that my educational background, ambition, and volunteering experience makes me well suited for giving these kids the opportunity to go over the finer aspects of programming. I would like an opportunity to have a discussion with you about employment opportunities upon my graduation so that you can better assess my talents for your organization.
