Current setup:

domain = example.com
nameservers = ns3.example.com, ns4.example.com

Desired setup:

domain = example.com
nameservers = udns1.ultradns.net, udns2.ultradns.net

Before I call my registrar, and have them change the nameserver records to go to udns, I want to test all the records to make sure everything is kosher. What I'm trying to do right now is run a BIND server (which I have working) and create a zone (example.com) and then in that zone specify the nameservers are udns1.ultradns.net and udns2.ultradns.net instead of ns3/ns4. So I have a client computer that I set the nameserver IP to my BIND server and when I query www.example.com, it will look for the record from udns1.ultradns.net instead of ns3.example.com.

Here is my example.com zone:

example.com. IN SOA udns1.ultradns.net. admin.example.com. (
                        5               ; Serial
                        10800           ; Refresh
                        3600            ; Retry
                        604800          ; Expire
                        86400 )         ; Minimum TTL

; DNS Servers
@       IN NS           udns1.ultradns.net.
@       IN NS           udns2.ultradns.net.

When I do 'nslookup www.example.com' from the client machine I get back an error that it does not exist. If I do 'nslookup www.example.com udns1.ultradns.net' I get a valid response back. It almost seems like the BIND server is not forwarding the queries to udns1, but rather checking itself for the records which it does not have. What gives??
