OK, here are somethings. Go to deviantart.com and type in "Gimp brush sets" into the search box. Go to dafont.com to download fonts. Make a new image and choose your brush tool and set the opacity to 60%. Fill in the area with brush of choice, make sure its not to dark and not to many white patches. When you like how it is, duplicate the layer, then go to filter > blur > gaussian blur. Put 13 into both boxes then OK. Go to your layers dialoug which you can get to by going to file > dialougs > layers. Press the drop down box and switch it to overlay. Right click the duplicate layer then then press merge. Then go to tools > color tools > colorize. The top bar is to choose the color. Middle bar is to make the color brighter or darker. The bottom is to make darker colors light, but it also makes the brush less noticeable, thats why you always set the overlay to 60%. Thats how it should start out everytime. After that, create a new layer and make sure it has a white background. Then go to your layers dialoug and set it to multiply. Do this every time you create a new layer. There are a few times you dont, matters what you want to do. After that you should repeat these steps over until you have everything the way you want it. Now to borders. 1) new layer, select all, edit > stroke selection. Set the box to 10. Then switch the color to white and stroke selection again, this time set the box to 8. Switch it back to your main color and stroke it once again. This time, 5 in the box. Go to layers dialoug and switch it to anything above overlay. 2) There afew ways to make this border. A) Select all edit > Stroke selection. This version gives you a slight antialias. B) New layer, select all, fill whole selection, select > shrink selection. Put anything above 1 in there. Then clear. Now your text... you need text. Choose a font, put it where you want. Go to layer dialoug, right click text layer > alpha to selection. New layer, move the layer below the real text layer. Then go to select > grow selection. Put anything above 2 in this box. Then fill whole selection. Your text now has a border. Just repeat all these steps if you want a second color on your border. Sorry if there are typos. God... your welcome.
