- The Story - How to crap on your data disk - Rev 1.0
- ---------------------------------------------------
- Day 1
- -----
- Ok. Came in last Tuesday Morning Nov 21st, hardware error on c1d0.
- I could not boot the system. Contacted ArcServe Admin. Only backups available are Nov 12th
- Tried to fsck the drive. Maxtor reports physical disk errors. I replaced the drive and reinstalled Solaris.
- Day 2
- -----
- Knowing that i always store my backups on c2d0 just in case. I check there for all of the backups.
- I can't remember which slice has the backups. So i type 'format'.
- I type 'pa' to view partitions.
- I answered 'yes' when it asked "type 'y' to accept the default partition. otherwise type 'n' to edit the partition table.
- *boom*
- Partition Table is wiped.
- prtvtoc shows a different output to previously.
- All slices are inaccessible.
- My backups are on c2d0s3 (was mounted as /backups)
- I only need to get that slice back.
