Description:

The Lead SharePoint Developer will work on most all phases of applications development, systems analysis, and programming activities. Additionally, the incumbent will assist in planning, architecting, developing, and implementing the portal. The incumbent will lead the design, development, customization and integration efforts of SharePoint solutions involving Collaboration, Portals, Enterprise Search, Enterprise Content Management, Business Process and Forms, and Web Parts. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing level of effort estimates for project deliverables and providing alternative solutions and technical expertise across a range of applications, systems and technologies. This position will work with a team of developers in .Net and SharePoint integration solutions. The incumbent will investigate industry trends and provide guidance and recommendations to the team and senior management.

Educational Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field is required. This requirement can be substituted with a Bachelor's degree in another field and five years of progressive programming experience as an application developer, web developer, or software engineer.

Minimum Requirements:

- 5 or more years of experience building or designing solutions, working with cross functional teams, and participating in project development
- 6 or more years of experience working with web based technologies
- 5 or more years of experience with Microsoft SharePoint or comparable software development experience
- MOSS 2007 experience is required and experience with SharePoint 2010 is a plus
- Experience working with business processes and developing detailed analysis of how to effectively deploy SharePoint Services throughout the enterprise environment
- Proven experience in configuration of SharePoint in a Team Foundation Server, TFS environment
- Solid understanding of the MOSS security model and integration with active directory
- Practical experience with project lifecycles, source code management, and code reviews
- Proven experience mentoring, leading, or coaching a development team
- Experience working effectively in and fostering highly collaborative, team-oriented environments
- SQL, SharePoint, ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, AJAX
- Proven track record of Microsoft SharePoint portal development
- Proven track record developing and implementing .Net programming
- Ability to work with COTS applications using Microsoft .NET architecture
- Knowledge of Internet Information Server (IIS)
- Experience in Visual Studio.NET 2003+, and VB.NET / C#.NET languages
- Experience in software development lifecycle
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to function independently as well as work with and/or lead a team in a collaborative environment
- Thorough knowledge of and fluency with current web innovations and technologies
- Understanding of web environments in large IT organizations
- Demonstrated knowledge of information architecture principles and user-centered design principles
- Knowledge of current best practices in web design, usability, and accessibility
- Ability to create and maintain articulate, structured technical documentation
- Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population

Preferred Requirements:

- Experience in a higher education environment is preferable
- Experience with High Capacity web systems/ High volume transactions is a "good to have" in this role
- Experience with enterprise-level SharePoint portal deployments, especially coupled with Datatel Active Campus, is a strong advantage

In this key role, the Web Developer (.NET) will help guide and support the university’s rapidly growing online portal presence by offering strategizing and support for a world-class portal infrastructure. A “hands on” approach - coding of applications and web parts is a fundamental facet of this position. The Lead SharePoint Developer will need to exhibit excellent judgment on how to prioritize between focusing on existing versus new applications and between features, architectural improvements, and operational excellence. A self-starter who insists on creating innovative solutions and has the ability to practically apply best-practice web technologies to meet business objectives will succeed in this role.
