Modern technology is branching out to more parts of life. For example: a cellphone can be active all hours of the day, and is sometimes required to be. In spite of this, some have questioned technology's increasing role in life, specifically in the classroom and in the community. However, technology aids both the community and classroom by simplifying classwork

        The slide rule, one of the very first computers, tormented mathematicians for centuries. However, near the end of the 20th century, the electronic calculator came into being. It made the slide rule obsolete and began a reign of easy calculation. The technology also simplified schoolwork and allowed more students to understand math. The community obtained people who could do better with math and became all the more enriched by it, while schools received children who could go further with mathematics. Calculators, unfortunately, were not free, and obtaining them required an increased amount of resources be devoted to technology.

        Portability is a new standard for wares. With portability, activities can be done anywhere, allowing more time to work on them, and people stay interconnected, which allows them to circulate and refine information. Laptops and USB sticks are made specifically to be portable. If they were made available to school and communities, both would see an obvious benefit. The amount of resources dedicated towards technology would need to be increased to meet the costs of the goods.
