- <Jroi_User4714> Hi, I have a question about a dilemma I'm having. Are you one of the pastors on here?

- <Jroi_User4714> No, actually. Here's the issue I'm having: I'm an actor, and there's an audition that I want to go to.

- <Jroi_User4714> The problem is, the play is about Adam and Eve, and about demons that tempted them. (it's artistic, so bear with me on this...)
- <Jroi_User4714> The ad for the audition said, "Most important caveat is that the play will call on actors to stand against or even denounce God; the very religious are not encouraged to audition."
- <ShardvexZY> Ah, I see the problem
- <Jroi_User4714> Now, I'm not incredibly religious, but I believe in God, and it's been one of my goals to get closer to Him.

- <Jroi_User4714> Thanks! Also, if I got cast in the show, I'd be getting paid.
- <ShardvexZY> First, I have a question
- <Jroi_User4714> Sure, what is it?
- <ShardvexZY> Do you have an example of how you will be denouncing God?
- <ShardvexZY> If not, thats fine
- <Jroi_User4714> No, I don't. The ad just says that God made another woman before Eve, called Lilith, who became evil and was tempting Eve with the fruit with Lucifer. It says that Eve looks to Lilith after leaving Eden for what to do next.

- <ShardvexZY> Have you ever heard of Kirk Cameron?
- <Jroi_User4714> Yes, he was in Growing Pains, right?
- <ShardvexZY> He was best known for his acting in the sitcom Growing Pains
- <ShardvexZY> yes
- <ShardvexZY> And then he played in Left Behind, Fireproof, and others
- <ShardvexZY> He became a Christian in the middle of his acting on Growing Pains
- <Jroi_User4714> Yeah, I think I remember hearing something about that.
- <ShardvexZY> And after that, he would always request for jokes which went against his conscience to be removed from the show.
- <ShardvexZY> There werent too many, but there were some.
- <Jroi_User4714> Really? How did that turn out?
- <ShardvexZY> It actually worked
- <ShardvexZY> in some cases, at least thats what i heard
- <ShardvexZY> Later on, when he was acting in the Left Behind movies
- <ShardvexZY> The script had him present the Christian Gospel halfway through the second movie
- <ShardvexZY> Kirk Cameron wasn't satisfied with it, and he had it changed
- <ShardvexZY> Although he almost left because at first they wouldnt change it
- <ShardvexZY> When he acted in Fireproof, he was supposed to kiss another woman actor, who was not his wife
- <ShardvexZY> near the end of the move
- <ShardvexZY> movie*
- <ShardvexZY> Being a Christian, it went against his principles
- <ShardvexZY> So he had his wife act as a double
- <ShardvexZY> for the other woman
- <ShardvexZY> ...and kissed her instead
- <Jroi_User4714> Okay, that's interesting!
- <ShardvexZY> I recommend not going against your conscience.

- <ShardvexZY> Personally, I dont really like Kirk Camerons evangelism, or science, but he's a good actor, who keeps to his principles
- <ShardvexZY> I actually dont disagree with playing the role of someone against God
- <ShardvexZY> As long as that person is portrayed as being wrong, evil, and wicked
- <ShardvexZY> However, if the evil is portrayed as being good, I would have a problem.
- <ShardvexZY> Thats basically what I have to say. I think that you should ask another person in this chat room, maybe Kevin or one of the OPs.
- <Jroi_User4714> Yeah, I'm debating about what to do. It's tough because as an actor, onstage you aren't being yourself for the sake of the audience. So some of the things onstage are okay with me, because I know it's not really me. But if they're going to warn people about that right on the ad, it sounds incredibly serious.
- <ShardvexZY> Also, I would recommend reading Genesis
- <ShardvexZY> you will find that the plot you just told me of, departs very far away from the original story
- <ShardvexZY> Its ok to ad some fiction
- <ShardvexZY> But the Bible makes it clear that there were no humans before Adam and Eve
- <ShardvexZY> At least, not the same KIND of humans
- <Jroi_User4714> Yes, I know that it's completely different. I know that Eve was originally made from Adam's rib.

- <Jroi_User4714> Oh, did I mention that I'd be auditioning for the role of Eve?
- <ShardvexZY> Oh, so you're a gal
- <ShardvexZY> Thats interesting
- <Jroi_User4714> Yes, sorry, I didn't say that before.
- <ShardvexZY> So, where would Adam be without Eve?
- <ShardvexZY> In the Garden :P

- <Jroi_User4714> Haha, I get it!
- <ShardvexZY> As I said, you might want to talk to someone who more spiritually mature than myself.
- <Jroi_User4714> Well, thank you anyways, it feels good to talk to someone about it.
- <ShardvexZY> Are you a Christian?
- <ShardvexZY> Or just considering it...
- <Jroi_User4714> Yes, I am a Christian, just not as close to God as I'd like to be. I haven't read the entire Bible yet, and it's a goal of mine to completely read and understand it.
